Workshops
My passion for music goes beyond composition, improvisation and performance. The interest for facilitating children's and young people's imaginations through creative music making was one of the key factors that led me to my Joint European Music Master studies at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. During autumn 2014 I participated in many international intensive courses and gained knowledge on workshop leading. I had the pleasure of working with the following course leaders: Guy Wood (UK), Detta Danford (UK), Joe Wills (UK) and Renee Jonker (NL.) I was deeply inspired by these experiences. They also re-enforced my belief in bringing non-formal learning approaches into the more formal contexts, such as schools.
VIDEO This video clip illustrates a workshop I designed for a school class in Helsinki in November 2014. The workshop was lead by Kokko Quartet, a jazz group I've been playing with since 2010. In this workshop the children created theme-based stories in small groups. With the help of the instructors, the stories were transformed into musical performances.
