Johanna Pitkänen is a pianist and composer working in the Helsinki region. She writes music for film and has written several commissioned compositions for small ensembles. Pitkänen is a member of Takamaa Collective based in Southern Finland. She is also is the founding member of Helsinki-based jazz group Kokko Quartet. The group has been performing in Finland and abroad since 2010 and they have released two albums. In 2009 Pitkänen completed a Bachelor's degree in Pop and Jazz Music at the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki. In 2016 she finished her Master's degree in a Joint European Master programme New Audiences and Innovative Practice at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Besides Stockholm those studies took Pitkänen to Reykjavik. |
